Week Thirty: Summer

It has been some time since the solstice, but as the season wanes, we thought it best to finally visit the topic of Summer. For our youthful participants, this topic will likely evoke fond memories of vacation and leisure, but it can surely be interpreted in any number of ways.

The painting here is simply titled Summer, and it was composed by an American tonalist painter named Thomas Dewing. An interesting scene, the two young women engage in a typically boyish activity while dressed in their relatively casual day clothes. Even so, they look pretty warm.

Until next Tuesday.
